Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about DrawdownAlerts
What is a drawdown?
A drawdown is the decline from a stock's all-time high to its current price, expressed as a percentage. For example, if a stock hit $100 and is now $85, that's a -15% drawdown.
What is the Drawdown Severity Score and status system?
The Drawdown Severity Score is our proprietary indicator that shows the relative severity of the current drawdown based on each asset's unique historical patterns. We use a 12-level system with three main zones: Green Zone (0-2) for normal/healthy, Yellow Zone (2-5) for elevated/significant, and Red Zone (5+) for severe/rare drawdowns. Scores help you distinguish between routine pullbacks and truly unusual buying opportunities. Learn more at our detailed Severity Score page →
What are the 4 alert types?
You can configure 4 different alerts for each stock: (1) Watch Alert (default: Elevated, severity ≥3.0) - early warning signal, (2) Buy Alert (default: Strong, severity ≥5.0) - rare opportunity, (3) Strong Buy Alert (default: Very Large, severity ≥8.0) - exceptional opportunity, (4) Ultra Buy Alert (default: Historic, severity ≥12.0) - generational opportunity. Each alert type has intelligent escalation logic to prevent spam.
How does pricing work?
Monitor 3 stocks for free with no credit card required. Need more? Our Starter plan includes 10 stocks for $19/month. You can add or remove stocks anytime, and billing adjusts automatically with pro-rated refunds when you downgrade.
How often do you update prices?
Our system automatically fetches the latest prices for all monitored stocks daily between 5-11 PM ET (after market close). Updates are staggered over several hours for optimal performance. You'll receive alert emails as soon as your specific stocks are updated, typically within a few hours of market close. Crypto prices are updated 7 days a week.
Will I get too many alerts?
No! Each alert type (Watch, Buy, Strong Buy) has a 7-day cooldown period, so you won't get bombarded. Alerts are based on our 12-level status system, not arbitrary thresholds, so you only hear from us when it's truly meaningful.
Can I customize alert triggers?
Absolutely! On your dashboard, each monitored stock has 3 dropdown menus where you can choose which status level triggers each alert type. For example, you could set Watch Alert to 'Elevated' if you want earlier warnings, or 'Historic' if you only want extreme notifications.
What if I want to cancel?
You can remove stocks from monitoring anytime. Your billing adjusts immediately with pro-rated refunds. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.
Do you have access to my brokerage accounts?
No! We only track stock prices and send alerts. We never access your brokerage accounts or know how many shares you own. Complete privacy.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe (industry standard). We never see or store your credit card information. All API keys are stored in Google Cloud Secret Manager.
Can I monitor ETFs or mutual funds?
Yes! Any ticker symbol can be monitored, including ETFs, index funds, and individual stocks.
What happens if a stock splits or has corporate actions?
We use adjusted prices that automatically account for splits and dividends, so our calculations remain accurate through corporate actions.
Can I see examples of real alerts you've sent?
Yes! Check out our Buy the Dip showcase which shows real alert examples with actual return data. You can adjust position sizes to see what you would have made.
